Cookie Policy
Last updated: 18 August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Capital Narrative Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on capital-narrative.co and its Institutional Readiness Check. It should be read alongside our Privacy Notice.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, can perform related functions.
Some technologies are necessary for a website to operate securely and remember your choices. Others can help a website owner understand how the website is used or measure the effectiveness of its communications.
2. How we use cookies
We use, or may use, the following categories:
Strictly necessary technologies
These are required for essential website functions such as security, form operation, the Institutional Readiness Check and remembering your cookie preferences. They cannot be switched off through our cookie settings because the website may not function properly without them.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are visited and whether users encounter technical problems. We will not activate analytics cookies unless you choose to accept them.
Advertising and measurement cookies
These technologies can help us measure the effectiveness of our LinkedIn activity and understand whether visitors reach our website after interacting with our communications. We will not activate advertising or measurement cookies unless you choose to accept them.
3. Technologies currently in use
The website uses Google Analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag. Neither service is loaded, and neither sets any cookie or storage record, unless you have given the relevant consent. Google Analytics is activated only by the analytics choice, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag only by the advertising and measurement choice.
The website uses only technologies needed to provide its core functions. These may include security and infrastructure technologies used by our website-hosting providers, the operation of website forms and the Institutional Readiness Check, and a preference record used to remember the cookie choices you make when the cookie-control system is enabled.
The table below sets out the technologies used, together with their provider, purpose and typical duration.
| Technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cn_cookie_consent_v1 local-storage preference | Capital Narrative | Remembers the visitor's cookie choices and the policy version | 180 days |
__cf_bm (strictly necessary; set on the capital-narrative.co domain) | Cloudflare, on behalf of Capital Narrative’s website hosting | A bot-management and security cookie set by the network that serves this website. It distinguishes automated traffic from human visitors and protects the site from abuse. It is not used for analytics, advertising or profiling, and it is set before any consent choice because it is required to serve the website securely. | 30 minutes |
__dpl (strictly necessary) | Capital Narrative’s website hosting provider | A deployment cookie that keeps a visitor’s browsing session on a single, consistent version of the website so that pages and files do not become mismatched during an update. It contains only a deployment reference, is not used for analytics or advertising, and does not identify you. | 24 hours |
Google Analytics 4 — _ga, _ga_<identifier> (analytics; loaded only after analytics consent) | Measures page views and website performance in aggregate. Advertising features, advertising personalisation and Google signals are switched off, and page addresses are recorded without query strings so that no personal information is sent. | Up to 2 years | |
LinkedIn Insight Tag — bcookie, li_gc, lidc (advertising and measurement; loaded only after advertising and measurement consent) | LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company | Measures the effectiveness of our LinkedIn activity and helps us understand our professional audience in aggregate. | lidc 1 day; li_gc and bcookie up to 6 months |
__cf_bm (a separate cookie of the same name, set on the linkedin.com domain through LinkedIn’s infrastructure; appears only after advertising and measurement consent) | Cloudflare, on behalf of LinkedIn | A bot-management cookie placed by the content delivery network that serves the LinkedIn Insight Tag. It distinguishes automated traffic from human visitors and is not used for advertising, profiling or analytics. It is set only because the tag is loaded, so it does not appear unless you accept advertising and measurement. | 30 minutes |
This preference record is strictly necessary: without it we cannot remember your privacy choice, and you would be asked again on every visit. It stores only your choices, the policy version and the decision and expiry dates. It does not store your name, email address or any identifier, and it is not sent to us.
Two different cookies share the name __cf_bm. They are listed separately above because they have different providers and domains: one is set on capital-narrative.co by the network that hosts this website and is strictly necessary for security, and the other is set on linkedin.com only when the LinkedIn Insight Tag is loaded after you accept advertising and measurement.
The strictly necessary cookies __cf_bm (capital-narrative.co) and __dpl are set when the website is first loaded, before any cookie choice is made, because they are required to deliver the website securely and consistently. Neither is used for analytics, advertising or profiling.
4. Optional services
The following optional services are used, and are loaded only after you give the relevant consent:
| Category | Service | Purpose | When activated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics | Google Analytics | To understand website traffic, usage and performance | Only after analytics consent |
| Advertising and measurement | LinkedIn Insight Tag | To measure LinkedIn campaign activity and understand engagement by our business audience | Only after advertising and measurement consent |
When Google Analytics is enabled, it uses cookies including _ga, to distinguish visitors, and _ga_<identifier>, to maintain session information. Google states that these cookies have a default expiry period of up to two years, although browser settings and our final configuration may shorten that period.
When the LinkedIn Insight Tag is enabled, LinkedIn sets cookies including bcookie, li_gc and lidc, which are used for measurement and advertising purposes. You may also see __cf_bm, a short-lived bot-management cookie set by Cloudflare, the content delivery network that serves the tag on LinkedIn’s behalf; it is not used for advertising or profiling. If you later withdraw your consent, the tag stops loading immediately; cookies set by LinkedIn on its own domain can be removed through your browser settings.
We will update this policy if we introduce either service or make a material change to the technologies used.
5. Your choices
You can:
- accept all optional cookies;
- reject all non-essential cookies; or
- choose which optional categories to enable.
Rejecting optional cookies will not prevent you from using the website or completing the Institutional Readiness Check.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the website footer. Withdrawing consent will not affect any processing that took place before you changed your choice.
You can also delete or block cookies using your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may affect how some parts of the website function.
6. Third-party services
Where you consent to an optional service, the relevant provider may process information collected through its technology. Please refer to the provider's own privacy and cookie information for further details.
Links to external websites, including LinkedIn and Google Calendar, are governed by the cookie and privacy practices of those websites once you follow the link. Capital Narrative does not control cookies placed by an external website you choose to visit.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the website, our service providers or applicable legal requirements change. The date at the top shows when the policy was last updated.
